Bernard Slade wrote his comedy "Same Time, Next Year" in 1975, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award, and then collected an Oscar for his film adaptation. The piece has been performed more than 1,400 times on the Broadway, and has been shown in several countries around the world. The characters in the story are Doris and George, who are both married to someone else, yet spend a day with each other each year, and over the years the adventure becomes a deep human connection.
