Info
One of the most significant pieces in the history of musical theater has returned to the Budapest audience.
The rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice has revolutionized musical theater and raised questions that are still valid today.
His protagonist is not only the title character Jesus, but his equal companion Judas, who is desperately trying to understand his friend’s actions, in vain. He gets mysterious answers to his questions, and it becomes increasingly clear that he has fallen into a story that may have little effect on its continuation — as do the other characters, from Pilate to Herod, from Mary Magdalene to Caiaphas.
All human and superhuman events are concentrated in the events of a week: from the entrance of Christ and his followers into Jerusalem to the crucifixion.
A. L. Webber’s music is fresh and overwhelming, one big hit follows another. The first milestone of an overarching career is now in front of the Madách Theater audience in a new, modern and spectacular robe.
We would like to draw the attention of our esteemed spectators to the dramatic, disturbing scenes in the performance due to the nature of the biblical story.
